Not only because of the post on Eric Fortune's blog (and the comments on it ) but because of lots of other stuff ( one of them myself still being a student but not for much longer) I really thought I should make a post about how stupid it is to attend art school . I know that if somebody told me that before I attended I would have thought that he does not wish me all the best , wants to confuse me , or that he himself is confused and does not know any better or he is just lazy or anything ... but things turn out different at the end . I even can say that art schools kill time and opportunities ... It's a big theme ...
I recommend you read the post and the comments below it - it's a lot to read but it's the best advice a young student can get and from some great deal of talented artists . The same post but with some more comments is being placed here .
Any way - wish I knew better ,and at the end skill is what matters

One of the big problems that art schools have is that so many people are exposed to K-12 art programs with no rigor at all. Playtime. Be "creative." I know a few serious visual artists who have really exerted themselves and you can see it in the bones of their work. For each of them I know a dozen other who...are "creative."
